Civil Engineering is a course which instructs us how to assemble infrastructure and create an atmosphere which will be conducive for living in modern world.

Civil engineering primarily covers activities of engineering discipline from planning, designing and construction of buildings .Civil engineering industry also encompasses areas like soil and rock mechanics, surveying, material science and environmental science.

Besides designing, planning or construction of buildings, some other major application fields of civil engineering industry are management of residential and commercial buildings, transportation system, fields regarding water supplying activities, and environmental fields, which is basically studied for the maintenance and enhancement of quality of life. Apart from academic courses, the department provides various add-on courses, hands-on training of software, industry incorporated expert talks, seminars and workshops to students as well as the faculty.

The Surveying Laboratory is equipped with the instruments and tools that students use throughout the surveying course. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments. Surveying lab offers supplemental experience in fundamental land surveying measurement methods for surveying courses to perform horizontal measurements, traditional transits theodolites to perform angular measurements, and traditional levels for elevation measurements and total station.

Materials Testing is a range of highly precise and reliable techniques that determine and measure the characteristics of materials, such as mechanical properties. Our material testing lab is equipped to test and analyze materials for a wide range of industries to their standards and specified criteria. Our test data and results help determine whether materials meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, design engineers or business quality programs and are suitable for their intended applications.

The Concrete Laboratory in the Department of Civil Engineering primarily includes experimental studies on different types of materials. The Concrete Laboratory also offers technical services for testing on the structural properties of materials for various departments like PWD, Irrigation, Railway etc..

The Environmental Engineering Laboratories in the Department of Civil Engineering provides excellent facilities with well-equipped and specialized experimental equipment.

A typical geotechnical engineering laboratory helps in identifying the engineering behaviour soils.

AutoCAD lab provides the following facilities – Exposure to different categories of building, Functional requirements of buildings and Preparation of 2D drawing, Application of CAD to Civil Engineering Drawing. Major equipment used are – 25 systems supporting AutoCAD, and Staad.Pro.
